By the time I reached the beach, the last guys from the last heat just got out of the water and Supers got super small. Actually, the surf was so bad according to J-Bay standards, I never even bother to go for a surf if it looks like that. My day went for a bit of a jouyride though...
I had a quick lunch and then went to see two clients. Then I got the
brainwave to race through to Seal Point, because I still had a couple
of settings that I wanted to test with the new camera.
I ended up taking photos of non sponsored "normal" surfers. They were all very stoked about me being out there with a 600mm glass. It's funny how people react to the lens and I guess I am not used to the instant fame, even if it is just because "mine is bigger than yours". You'll be surprised how many people had stuff to say about genitals and sizes as they asked or said something about the lens. Freaky I tell you.
Winners for the three Vonzipper trails completed today are Devyn Mattheys, Heath Joske and Torrey Meister. It is most unfortunate that we did not see more Saffas advance. Heat 3 of VZ trails had Damien F. Shaun J. and Shaun P. in there but with horrible conditions, the highest heat scores for the day was only 12.34 out of a possible 20 points.
