I recall once in 1994, sitting at a school bench on a warm Friday afternoon, wishing the time would go by so I could go to swimming practice at the municipal swimming pool. (Grew up in Newcastle, KZN. Sea was 4 hours away!) A picture drawn in pen on the school bench caught my eye. It was a grave stone. On it there was the following inscription: ¨In memory of those who sat here, waiting for the bell to ring...¨ That stone was definately in my memory, and I am sure lots of others before and after me.

Well, after 60 hours of filming, shooting editing and streaming the 2010 St. Francis Resort SA Longboard Champs by Oxbow (I had to learn to say this over a microphone) I am finally back at home with my family, my own bed and on my laptop and uncapped internet.
I am covering the SA Longboard Champs in Cape St. Francis for the next couple of days for SALTsurfmag.com.
We are doing a live video stream of the entire event and you can see it all here: http://www.saltsurfmag.com/saltmagazine/sachamps.html
Been grafting all morning and missed out on the amazing surf we had in J-Bay. The time I got into the water eventually, there was a bit of a chop and East blowing, but it soon cleared out and even though it was a bit crumbly, there were some great sets that came through. (I still have a couple of photo orders I need to send out, and am busy processing them, but as you can see I have been surfing a lot in the last week.)
