Welcome to the new jbaysurfcam.com website

Let me rather not look at when I started with the new jbaysurfcam.com website! It has been a while.

I am still busy testing a couple of things and a couple of new feautures will appear on the website so be sure to look around from time to time. The webcam is at least up.

I revamped the gallery and totally migrated it and then I also kept all the old links in tact so hopefully non of you will end up on 404 error pages. I'll be in Capetown next week for parts of the Wavescapes film festival. I'll be making a delayed time capture of a melting Ice surfboard and hopefully catch a wave or two while I am downsrairs.

Don't even ask me about waves. Printable words cannot describe the total lack of surf we have had for the last couple of weeks. At least I had been pretty productive on the develpoment side of things, but come-on! We need some waves!

You'll definately see me when it's on. Thanks for those of you that read my blogs, I never thought there are so many of you. I promise to write some nice stuff in the near future. Need to stir the creativity a little and go and experience some life out there so that I can document it.

Laters!

Bye Oom Shorty

I just got back from a weekend in the Baviaans and was pretty eager to catch up on emails and news. We had no reception where we were and I never checked my phone. Before I left, Bruce (Gold) gave me a call from a hospital in Durban and said that he's still in there after the operation he had due to skin cancer. They removed parts of his shoulder and it's pretty hairy stuff for a 62 year old man who's lived a surfing lifestyle all his life. Little did we know that Oom Shorty Bronkhorst would pass away this weekend in Humansdorp Hospital from a cancer related illness. So I learned when I opened up the homepage of wavescape.co.za...

Thumbnnail Video Supertubes 22 July 2009

I snapped a couple of photos during a quick break at Supertubes on 22 July 2009.

I was out there between 12:04 and 13:00 so if you found yourself on a wave at Supertubes I probably got a couple of shots of you.

Later that day, I went for a session at Tubes and was so stoked because I got slotted several times and I made two bombs that took me from the take off at Tubes way past point. I was almost at the right place for a takeoff at Albatros and took ages to paddle back to Tubes!

Send me a message if you want to buy some photos. Just tell me which photos you want by giving me the minutes and second they appear on. All the pics is super clear since I used a Prime 600mm F4 lens and a Nikon D3 and I have them in highres NEF of JPG.

Here's the thumbnails video.

Seals Session thumbnails video

I made a quick video dump of thumbnails from photos taken at Seals on Thurday 9 July 2009 between 15:30 and 17:50. Due to a lack of time, images are not cropped or treated and I did not delete the bloopers.

The compression on the current video sucks a bit, but you should be able to identify yourself. (Busy rendering another higher res video.) All photos are availible in crisp clear FX Nikon NEF format which could be blown up to huge poster sizes and still not look pixelated.

This is not to show photographic ability or anything, it's just to help you see which photos you want to buy of yourself. Get in touch with me if you want one.

Point Session thumbnails dump 12 July 2009 - 11:00 to 12:00

Herewith another session thumbnail dump. 12 July 2009, 11:00 - 12:00. This time closed to home. J-Bay was flat, but these guys squeezed some rides out of the wave at Point and I was stoked to test some settings and sell a couple of photos. If you see yourself there and want to buy some, just tell me at what time your photos appear in the video. You can contact me from the contact page. Thanks!
