Bruce is back and I got a video cam

After months and months of missions and "Sick leave", Bruce Gold is back in J-Bay. He had quite a long stint in Moz. and also double Malaria during that time. Later he was hanging out at his mom's possie and he went for an op where parts of his shoulder bone were removed due to skin cancer that went real bad. (Good to have you back Bruce!)

I just went out to check the waves at Supers and there was already a film crew hot on his tail and they kept on stuffing their fishpole mic into our faces and pointing the cam at us. When I left, the crew persuid me to the car and asked me questions. I love being filmed, but it has been a long time since I've been on air, so I irretated myself a little because I felt uncomfortable.

Now I know what it must feel like to other people when I take footage of them! Speaking of footage, I bought a old DV handycam yesterday, so I'll be starting to do videos very soon. It's a spesific model I wanted that still has a manual focuss ring and Microphone inputs. It's not HD, but definately good enough for DVD productions and making stuff for the internet.

I'll be a little bit out of the loop because I am going to make a documentary of some students doing orentation for the next 10 days and activities include midnight PT sessions, carrying tires, biulding rafts, hiking very long and so on. (No, I will not by lugging a tire along, but I am taking a lot of my gear. The idea is to have sort of a reality TV type of military style thing.

If there are waves today or tomorrow, I'll be all over the place.

I was also glad to see Rudi, the guy who used to do the glassing at Rebel Surfboards at Supers this morning. Great to see old faces again.
