Well there you have it folks. Looks like just about half of the surfing world flocked to Jeffreys Bay in the last two days. You don´t have to be Steve Pike to see what all the fuss it about. On Friday, wind speeds of up to 105 km were measured in Jeffreys Bay, and by this morning, the WSW swell turned more South, making for an epic Supertubes with at least 10 rides from Supers all the way to Point. For the first time since I know Jeffrey´s Bay, I heard two people say they caught a wave from Supertubes past Point and kicked out at Albatross Beachie. Would love to get an interview with those guys. Glen, a local, lifted it out that the swell direction towards Point did not bend so much into the bay but waves did push past to Albatros, and that it´s likely these guys did it for real. I took photos all day, and Anneré gave me a hand while I did some video for Matt Bromley, so we got you all covered from 7am to about 5pm.
Here is a sample image so you can see the quality featuring Matt Bromley. This was taken early morning, so when lighting was better, the detail would be even higher. Click the thumbnail to see the image in 800px wide. The hand is cropped at 100% size, eg. I did not scale it down. (click as well)
