We can´t complain so far this summer, with several days of swell. This weekend was no exception. I chose to surf on Saturday, and then did some water shots at Supertubes on Sunday afternoon. Check it out and make your order here.
I used my 200mm lens. In retrospect, I am not too fond of the resulting field of view, because it feels a little too tight for me. (The 200mm translates to 380mm on the cropped frame sensor) and I am thinking the next time I go out I will shoot with the 70mm which will give me an effective focal distance of 98mm, or otherwise zoom the 200mm a little out.
Recently, I have joined the gym to start swimming with my son, Timothy, who is taking lessons from Brenton Williams from Kouga Swim. I used to swim a bit in school, and it´s a great way to stay fit and healthy. It´s my hope that the swimming will also improve my surfing and ability to position myself better for shooting water. I do notice that my legs are in way better shape than my upper body.
I´ll see you out there! If you want to book me for a shoot, or plan on doing a surf trip and need a photographer to cover for you and some mates, then please contact me. Shot!
