I see the last update I did on this website was on 8 November! First of all, happy Christ-mas to all of you. My life went for a sudden unexpected turn in November, when I landed a programming contract with a large company through a facebook referral. Next thing I knew, I was on a jet to Durban and driving a rental to Richard´s Bay. I stayed in the fancy Protea Waterfront Hotel over there, and then worked from Vryheid where we stayed at Oxford Lodge for the rest of the time. Eventually, after a little more than two weeks, I got some time to go home for four days and then went to the Cape, Paarl to be exact, where we worked a couple of more days.
In between I managed to catch a good surf before leaving, but there was not even a thought of doing surf photos because I just needed to satisfy my craving to catch a couple of waves. Turns out I was not all that fit and I only caught about five waves in the session, with the best one being me dropping in on John Day (Thanks and sorry!) It was great to catch up with all the regular faces at Tubes and Point, and it it´s wonderful to know I have my place in the line-up and can come home and catch a couple of waves.
I am currently back in J-Bay waiting to hear if the project will continue in January and have used my free time to go scuba diving with African Waters Scuba. Gear lust got the best of me, and I bought myself an old manual Macro lens which I duly tested out on a dive on Saturday 24 September. (Writing something about it, will post somewhere with photos.)
I have no idea what 2012 will hold, but at least I know I will enter it without any debt and enough money in the bank to pay the bills for December and January.
I wish all of you a safe holiday time, and also that you would be debt free!
