In case you thought because the charts look good on MSW for today (3 Feb 2009) and you are going to flock over to JBay for the day...

Just forget about it.

In summer, JBay needs something way over 15ft open sea to deliver and a period of over 14secs if it comes from the west. It's another story when we get the odd swell from the East and it washes right into the bay. I just came from the beach now and the West is blowing it out with very few waves in sight. The wind chop is almost as big as the waves at some points!

Don't take my word for it, just go and check the cam. This afternoon you will also be sure to find heaps of frustrated locals who are desperate for a good session and have not had a proper surf in weeks.
